Hubbardton Forge was founded in 1974 by two recent college graduates who embarked on an artistic, entrepreneurial and uncertain future in the business of crafting metal. With anvils, blacksmithing hammers and other tools from a bygone era, George Chandler and Reed Hampton set out to revive the nearly forgotten craft of hand-forging raw metal into innovative designs that became recognized for their simplicity and integrity. Looking back over 38 years of achievement, we can proudly say that these time-honored principles are still practiced at Hubbardton Forge. They are the reasons we are one of the most respected brands in the lighting industry and one of the largest contemporary commercial forges in the U.S.A.

The fact that the team works under the same roof as the rest of the the company provides a level of service and understanding of design that can't be matched. To our dealers, we provide a network of support, including a comprehensive training seminar, product updates and other materials to help them effectively represent our products and become a design resource for their customers. We believe that enduring dealer relationships are collaborative, and we encourage communication from our dealers on improving our products and our service. domestic manufacturing In an age when companies are increasingly moving their manufacturing and service capabilities offshore, Hubbardton Forge is steadfastly committed to designing, manufacturing and serving our customers from under one roof in Castleton, Vermont. This allows a level of responsiveness to customers we couldn't otherwise provide, enables hands-on collaboration between departments that creates a better workplace, keeps well paying jobs in the U.S.A. and helps strengthen our local economy. Being a domestic manufacturer also allows us to manage resources better and offer better and faster custom capabilities than manufacturers located oversees. Instead, we efficiently build exactly what the customer wants, when they want it. We can handcraft most custom orders in weeks, not months. Most important, because we design and manufacture all of our products on site and own the process from beginning to end, we can ensure uncompromising quality.

our company green practices Hubbardton Forge has long believed that saving energy, preventing waste and reducing our environmental footprint are vital to our prosperity. As a company, we consider environmental impact at every level of our decision making process. We are proud of our record to date and are keenly aware of our ongoing responsibility. We continuously develop new initiatives to improve the efficiency and cleanliness of our manufacturing process. Among the environmental efforts we have adopted and pioneered over the years: *We were among the first companies in the state of VT to use powder coating, eliminating VOC's, hazardous waste and health issues associated with liquid finishes while offering a durable, state of the art finish to the customer. *We were one of the first companies in VT to use Aqueous metal cleaning - a recyclable, environmentally friendly water-based part cleaning process. *We installed Catalytic Infrared curing technology in our powder coating line, which uses less energy and has dramatically less combustion byproducts than conventional convection curing technology. *We are one of a handful of companies in North America to use bioremediation (microbes) to eat the soils and oils out of the wash solution, giving it a long bath life, measured in years. *In 2009 we were the first in the world to beta test a phosphate free bioremediation cleaner for a leading chemical manufacturer - and we continue to use this product today. *We developed a plan and invested in automated centrifuge separation technology as a method for extending the life of our tumble solution. This change resulted in a 97% reduction in water usage, a 150% increase in cleaning efficiency, elimination of a hazardous waste stream, improved worker safety, improved part quality and a reduction in labor. *Excess heat from our ovens is recycled - captured and used to supplement the heating of our building. *Additionally, the raw steel that we use to create our products is produced from a high percentage of recycled material - up to 100%. In perhaps our most deliberate effort toward environmental stewardship, Hubbardton Forge continues to design and develop energy efficient lighting solutions. Our customers' interest and concern for the environment continues to grow and we are working hard to bring new solutions forward. 5
